I was so excited about Christina + Namath’s engagement shoot from the moment we started planning it!! This fabulous couple considers themselves “book worms” of sorts, so what better place to start off their session than Chamblin’s BookMine downtown Jax!! It was such a cute place, with more books than I could have imagined After capturing some wonderful shots at the book store we made the trip to Big Talbot Island for the remainder of the session. This was my first session at Big Talbot Island, and it is such a beautiful place!! There are fall trees all over the beach, which makes for a truly unique backdrop:) Christina and Namath were naturals, even though they claimed this was the first time they had done something like this;) I’m so excited about how these pictures turned out and hope that you enjoy some of our favorites below!!

desiree + nathan’s wedding

Desiree and Nathan wanted a winter wedding for their big day, and that’s definitely what they got! With temperatures never getting out of the 30’s it made for some very chilly pictures, however for Floridians I’d say everyone did a great job braving the cold.

They got married on January 9, 2010 in Gainesville, FL at Creekside Community Church and had the reception at Villa East. From the amazing food (catered by Celebrations) to the awesome music from Jay’s Entertainment that got the party started, everything went great and everyone had a great time.

I want to say thank you to Erin who shot the wedding with me, I couldn’t have done it without you.

Desiree and Nathan, thanks for allowing us to capture your big day! We had a great time getting to know you, your family, and friends. Enjoy some of our favorites and a slideshow at the end.

kaitlin + morgan’s wedding

Earlier this month I traveled to Moscow, Idaho to document a very special wedding for my cousin, Morgan and his gorgeous new bride, Kaitlin! Last summer while Jeremy and I were in Alaska we not only got to witness Kaitlin + Morgan’s engagement (you can read the story here), but we also got to do an engagement session for them. The love that these two share as well as their love for God is such a radiant testimony!

Kaitlin + Morgan ~ Congratulations!!! It was such a blast to be a part of your big day and I am so excited to see how God uses you two together!

I want to give a special thanks to my brother in law, Adam, and my mom for helping me out during the day!

We LOVE our clients!!! This morning I had an email notification in my inbox from WeddingWire.com letting us know that one of our couples posted a new review and it made my day! It’s from one of our awesome December couples – thank you Angela & Joe!!!

We absolutely LOVE our engagement and wedding pictures. Kara and Jeremy made us feel so comfortable like we weren’t even posing. They got amazing shots at the wedding and reception without having to tell them who to take pictures of and when to take pictures. At the reception, we barely knew they were there, yet they took over 1000 pictures. Their service, creativity, and speed in getting the album back to us, were all beyond great. Did I mention they are the nicest people ever? I cannot say enough great things about them!

If you want two creative photographers instead of just one and not the standard “stand here and smile” they are the way to go! We looked at our wedding pictures over and over and are SO thrilled we chose Kara Pennington Photography.

whitney + sam’s wedding

Whitney + Sam had their Santa Rosa Beach wedding a few days after Christmas and it was absolutely gorgeous! The ceremony was held at Eden Garden State Park which provided an amazing backdrop for not only the ceremony, but also all of the formals pictures! Whitney was such a trooper and braved the chilly temp for two hours of pictures before the ceremony – thanks Whitney!

After the ceremony and a few more family pics we headed over to the modern Firefly Restaurant in Panama City Beach for their reception. They had a fabulous sit down dinner and afterwards the guests had fun taking turns in the photo booth and dancing! It was a perfect day

I want to give a huge THANK YOU to my sister-in-law, Courtney Craver, for stepping in as my second shooter when Jeremy came down with the flu the morning of the wedding … I couldn’t have done it without you, Court, and it was a blast shooting with you!

Whitney + Sam ~ Thanks again for choosing us to document your day! It was a pleasure getting to know you over the past few months and we wish you two all the best as you start your new life together in Chicago!

This past week has been amazing … I flew up to Moscow, Idaho for my cousin’s wedding last Saturday and afterwards spent three full days with my mom, sisters, brother-in-law, and two of my nieces & nephews! I am so blessed with such an awesome family who shares an intimate relationship with Christ – I miss them all so much already! While it was sad (as always) to say goodbye yesterday, knowing that I was going home to see Jeremy took out most of the sting

Before diving into my mountain of work today I read a short devotional that was exactly what I needed to hear and I wanted to share some of it with you all!

One of the most amazing blessings of becoming a Christian is receiving a new identity in Christ …

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! ~ 2 Corinthians 5:17

This truth is easy to forget at times, but we need to grasp and take hold of our new identity and the power that God has given us!

Matthew 5:13 I am the salt of the earth.

Matthew 5:14 I am the light of the world.

John 1:12 I am a child of God.

John 15:1,5 I am part of the true vine, a channel (branch) of Christ’s life.

John 15:15 I am Christ’s friend.

John 15:16 I am chosen and appointed by Christ to bear His fruit.

Romans 8:17 I am a joint-heir with Christ, sharing His inheritance with Him.

I Corinthians 3:16 I am a temple of God. His Spirit dwells in me.

I Corinthians 12:27 I am a member (part) of Christ’s body.

2 Corinthians 5:17 I am a new creation.

2 Corinthians 5:18-19 I am reconciled to God and am a minister of reconciliation.

Ephesians 1:1 I am a saint.

Ephesians 1:3 I am blessed with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places.

Ephesians 1:11 I am sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit who has been given as a pledge of my inheritance.

Ephesians 2:10 I am God’s workmanship created in Christ to do His work that He planned beforehand that I should do.

Ephesians 4:24 I am righteous and holy.

Wow. That is your new identity! Grasp it and enjoy the maturity and freedom which is your inheritance in Christ!
